Virtual Private Network
Virtual ECNet is a secure way for the faculty and staff community of Emerson College to access Emerson College computer networking resources remotely.
Note: This service may be considered ready for production use. However, unlike other computer services we offer, the success of this service depends on factors outside of our control, such as the quality of service afforded by your ISP and the quality of your home computer setup. If you encounter problems, please let us know. It is otherwise quite difficult for use to evaluate and improve this service. Send your comments to helpdesk@emerson.edu.
This service provides secure off-campus access to IP restricted services. For example, you will be able to map to network file shares from off campus. This service is not necessary to access email unless you want to use Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000 or XP. You do not need to use this service if you use Outlook Express, Eudora or another POP/IMAP program to access your Emerson e-mail. To access e-mail over the web from off campus go to http://ecmail.emerson.edu
